NILE Mainman Reveals Setlist Surprises

March 7, 2008

NILE mainman Karl Sanders has issued the following update:

"We have been slavishly rehearsing every night since the Mexico trip for the upcoming U.S. tour and thought people might be interested to know that the setlist does in fact contain for the first time in YEARS 'The Black Flame', 'Ramses Bringer of War' and 'Unas Slayer of the Gods'. This is an addition to all of the current hour's-plus worth of material we have been playing for the last year as our recent set.

"'Ramses' and the 'Black Flame' will be mid-set, however 'Unas' will be AFTER 'Black Seeds of Vengeance' as sort of an encore type deal — we will play 'Unas' if the crowd is up for it, and are calling for the encore — but we will most assuredly and happily NOT play 'Unas' if the crowd sucks that night.

"We will never forget how, when we played 'Unas' live back in 03, some nights part of the audience would drift off halfway through the epic 12-minute song. Well, it's a bitch of a song to pull off live — not just in terms of performance endurance, but also preparation. And because of all the extra sequencing and challenging guitar synth changes, it also requires decent on stage monitoring — many challenges all around.

"So if people aren't into it, we certainly would rather not go to all the fucking extra trouble to pull off 'Unas' live. But audiences that are there for 'Unas' all the way to the awesome end — watch out!

"'Unas' 2008 with Kollias and Lollis is a monster — it's the best 'Unas' has EVER sounded, EVER."
